Biography

Chief Dr. Chetachi Nwoga Ecton, from Mbaise, Imo state, is one of the most inspiring people in the world, particularly young women. She was not always wealthy. Dr. Ecton came to America at the tender age of 17 from Nigeria. Early on in life, she had a difficult time struggling to make ends meet. She married and a few years later, she divorced escaping an abusive relationship and then having to raise 3 children alone. She persevered holding as many as 4 jobs at one time and still managed to put herself though college earning a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Widener University. After college, Dr. Ecton ventured into the world of Entrepreneurship staking a claim in the real estate market and entertainment industry.

One of her first humanitarian ventures was a healthcare agency that provides services to intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals. Dr. Ecton began to develop the mindset of striving for excellence in all facets of her life with an innate desire and great determination to provide quality services in business, while lending a helping hand to others. Dr. Ecton believes in going over and beyond the call of duty to make a positive difference in the world around her. This passion of service is what led to the founding on the When In Need Foundation, Inc. (W.I.N.)

W.I.N. has help to provide hundreds of thousands of children gain a quality education, Fed over a million people and has provided housing to thousands of Families from around the world. One of the chief cornerstone projects carried out by the organization is the provision of pipe-borne water to a population of over 30,000 citizens of Ngor Okpala, a Town in Imo State, where there was no healthy source of water prior. Similarly, indigenous people of Ahiazu in Mbaise and Ideato Imo State have enjoyed a generous support of the foundation having catered to the health of over 12 thousand adults and children.

In the Summer of 2018, the foundation embarked on a medical outreach in three locations in the country which are Kadarko, a local government in Nasarawa State, Chibiri, a Community in Kuje Area Council FCT Abuja, and Okitipupa, a Local Government in Ondo State. Over 30,000 people have benefited from the organization’s medical missions and donations in each targeted location.

In addition to work done around the world, W.I.N. provides grants to assist people on the African continent in disadvantaged communities in the areas of clean energy, grants for education, health education on High blood Pressure, Diabetes, Kidney disease HPV and medications grants. W.I.N is a leading organization in the fight to reduce malaria outbreaks and on the continent.

For almost 25 years, Dr. Ecton has been funding 98 percent of the financial resources out of her own pocket and doesn’t regret spending a dime. She is by far the greatest a natural resource to hundreds of thousands of people from around the world.
